Sheepskin leather is soft and porous, obtained from the skins of wooled or
hair sheep. It is most commonly used as leather clothing due to its
thickness and easier to work with. It is regarded as the highest-class
material among other kinds of natural leather. Articles made of sheepskin
are hygienic, long lasting and strong. It is probably the most delightful
feel of any leather.
Individual sheepskin differs too much in size, fat content and general
quality of the dermal network. The closer a sheepskin approaches the hair
sheep, the better the skin for producing leather. It has wool on the outside
of inside layer of skin. The wool follicles of the sheepskin have extensive
glandular structures. The grain layer occupies more than a half of the total
thickness of the skin.
