The estimate investment is Rs. 30,000 in the year 2005-06.
The Technology Upgradation Fund (TUF) scheme will be allocated with
Rs. 435 crore.
10 per cent capital subsidy scheme for the textile processing sector
will be given apart from the benefits of the TUF Scheme.
20 clusters of the handloom sector will be taken by the Ministry of
Textiles at a cost of Rs. 40 crore for the year. The Ministry will adopt
these clusters for the development approach of production and marketing
of handloom products.
The Government will extend a life insurance coverage of Rs. 50,000
to 20 lakh weavers from existing 2 lakhs, in two years at a recurring
cost of Rs. 30 crore per year.
The Government will also extend the health insurance package to 2
lakh weavers from the existing 25,000 weavers at a recurring cost of Rs.
30 crore per year.
30 items of "Textile products includes hosiery" are
dereserved from SSI list.
