
Peau de Soie, also known, as "Paduasoy" is a stout, soft silk with
fine cross ribs. It is medium to heavyweight drapeable fabric having a satin
weave. It is extremely beautiful and smooth fabric with a satiny, lustered
finish. The full luster Peau de Soie is more flattering to most of the body
shapes and sizes than the higher luster satins.
Peau de Soie is a traditional fabric generally used for wedding dresses,
which is also used for bridesmaid's gowns, mothers-of-the-bride dresses and
also for elegant cocktail suits. It is a French word, which means, "skin
of silk". It is also known as "Duchess Satin". The best
quality of Peau de Soie is reversible, having finish on both sides.
Peau de Soie do not get dyed to dark colors. Light color dye looks great.
It is least affected by the ultra violet light. It gives a dramatic and
stylish look.
