Lamb's wool fabric is obtained from seven months old sheep which is its
first shearing. It is more soft, resilient and finer than the wool obtained
from mature sheep. Lamb's wool fabric is widely used in garment for its
extra softness, extensive warmth and comfort. Dusters and applicators are
also used because of its dust mite resistance quality and giving the
cleaning a good finish. The lamb is sheared and the wool obtained is cleaned by a solution containing soap. The wool has crimp (weaves in a lock of wool), which gives it springiness and elasticity. This quality of the lamb wool makes it easy to spin. The wool is first spun into yarn and then made into cloths. The finer wool has more crimp than the coarser ones.
Though in lamb's wool, the sheep is shorn for the first time but it is different from the 'virgin wool'. A virgin wool is not from a sheep, which is kept away from rams. It can be from an adult sheep also.
