Crocodile Leather Crocodile leather is exotic and fashionable. It is strong, supple and durable. It is obtained from the hide of a crocodile and is considered to be very valuable. The most common use of crocodile leather is in the form of handbags, wallets, boots and belts. Fashion houses are also experimenting with crocodile skin clothing collections with the help of improved tanning techniques.

Crocodiles are raised for its leather. They are harvested between 2 to 3 years before it is skinned. By this time the belly exceeds 35cm. The main species farmed is saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus). Products made of saltwater crocodile are the most prized.

To save alligator from becoming endangered species, farm houses tries to sustain the quantity of crocodiles. They follow captive breeding, regulating sustainable harvesting eggs from the wild. Today, alligator leather mostly comes from these farm raised alligator, giving a helping hand to world's wildlife conservation movement.
