for making sanitary products, baby diapers, shopping bags, towels, bed
sheets and many other products.
What is Organic Cotton Fabric?
Organic cotton fabric is made from
the organic cotton that is grown without pesticides and any other chemical.
All organic fabric whether cotton,
wool,
hemp
or
silk must meet the regulations set by
the Organic Trade Association. This includes processing of the fiber, its
production, dyeing and the non-toxic handling of organic cotton fabric.
Along with this in US the organic cotton must meet the standards of the
National Organic Program (NOP), from the USDA.
Why Do we Need Organic Cotton Fabric for Organic Clothings?
As per
USDA more than 50 million pounds of pesticides are used in a year in USA.
This is a huge figure in itself.
Cotton is the most staple crop that is
grown in more than 60 countries and on 5% of the cultivated land. While
cultivating cotton more than 25% of the total world's pesticides are used.
Because we do not eat cotton so more strong pesticides are used for growing
cotton that in one or other way harm us as we wear cotton clothing. But all
these pesticides are missing in organic clothing as to grow organic cotton
nothing of these are used.
- Pesticides are very seriously affecting the water resources and thus
affecting the drinking water.
- These are destroying the soil.
- Use of pesticides is causing the depletion of many natural population
of insects.
Organic cotton fabric and clothing is a great option for saving and
preserving these resources.
