Global textile solution provider Clariant has launched Foam Eco Care, a foam finishing product for cotton fabrics which gives a wrinkle free cotton fabric. This type of finishing is a high performance, innovative technology that provides wrinkle-free finishing. Clariant has been involved in the manufacturing of this product for the last 2 years for Cotton Incorporated of America. The product that Clariant has launched is an advanced resin-based foam finish application.

Foam Eco Care: Tried and Tested

Developed under laboratory conditions, Foam Eco Care has been tested in a vigorous way in commercial mills in Italy and in all cases the results have been same. What was tested in a laboratory was also tested within the commercial environment of ordinary textile mills and the results were identical. This product can be generally used within modern textile mills and adapting to it should not be difficult nor require any serious investment.

Ken Greeson, Senior Textile Chemist at Cotton Incorporated headquartered in Cary, North Carolina says, "You could say that Clariant's Foam Eco Care proves the old adage that two heads are better than one. This new process has major advantages over conventional pad application and we are sure it will be welcomed right across the industry. We used the same cotton poplin and denim fabrics throughout the trials and used Gaston CFS (chemical foam system) application technology."

Advantages of Foam Eco Care

It has been found that foam eco care is more resource efficient than the presently used techniques and especially suited to the production of shirt and trouser fabrics, as it also allows for non-iron properties. In today’s climate which is in most cases non environment friendly , where issues of sustainability are of great importance, foam eco care uses less energy as a result of its low temperature curing resin chemistry. Less water is required and because of faster drying speeds there are advantages in terms of overall productivity. With low formaldehyde it means that no after wash is required.
