26 August, 2010-If you want to keep the rayon fabric for a longer period of time then proper care and cleaning is required. Rayon is a very soft fabric that is prone to shrinkage. It also has a very low wet strength. Therefore dry cleaning is recommended for this fabric. But if you are doing the hand washing then also make sure not to twist the fabric after washing as it will give wrinkles. Try to dry it in the Sun if possible.

To clean the rayon fabric thoroughly more than normal washing is required. If you are trying to remove stain from the rayon fabric then you must under stand the fiber as different fibers react different to the stain cleaning products.

Also like this different types of fabrics respond different to the washing solutions. This is because of the unique chemical composition of the fabric. Hence you must know the how to clean the fabric properly.

Tips to Care and Clean Rayon Fabric

Read the clean instructions carefully before washing or cleaning rayon fabric. Wash rayon in cool water. Although hand washing should be preferred over machine wash. But on gentle cycle mode you can also do the machine washing.

Treat rayon fabric with diluted bleach because due to dilution the concentration of chlorine content will reduce a lot. This will further drop the negative effect of bleach on rayon fabric.

Do not use the diluted bleach for a long time on fabric as this will as lead to the weakening of the rayon fabric. Because of this the fabric will undergo wear and tear more quickly than others.

To remove the water from the washed rayon just hold it is towel and squeeze it a little. Then reshape the rayon fabric and hang it on hanger for drying.

Do not iron the rayon fabric at higher temperature as this will ruin the fabric. The burning affect of the rayon fabric is visible from its yellowing or scorching.

When rayon fabric dyes come in contact with moisture the dye comes to the surface. On the surface these form ring structure that are very hard to remove.

Iron it on the wrong side. If you are using steam press then avoid steam spitting on the rayon.

Store rayon fabric in cool and dry place.
